Mountain Manager - Craig Clark
We're thrilled to welcome Craig back to Broken River! Craig has been working in the ski industry since he was 15. Most recently he has been working at Head Coach of the off-piste programme at Silverstar in Canada, managing a staff of more than 20 instructors. Craig has taught ski instruction at various places around the globe, including Canada, Europe and two seasons at Broken River in 2015 and 2016. He has an honours degree in International Development and is a level 5 pizza maker. When not working Craig likes to be outdoors hiking, climbing and biking. He is also keen on cooking and travelling the world.
Guest Services Supervisor - Amy Smith
Amy is back for a second season at Broken River after falling in love with the club skiing way of life in 2015. Since working at Broken River she has travelled through Asia, South Africa and worked in Norway, the UK and England. Amy has a level 4 diploma in accounting and over 4 years experience in various administration and accounting roles. In her free time Amy enjoys hiking, camping, horse riding, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and bungy jumping.
Guest Services - Emily Stonehouse
Emily has worked in Guest Services at Silverstar in Canada. She has worked in a variety of other jobs including graphic design and sales. Emily has a Bachelor in Industrial Design. When not working Emily enjoys skiing, hiking, travelling and food.
Snow School Director - John Rudolph
John Rudolph comes from Alta, Utah in the United States, where he has been teaching skiing for the past seven winters. He is PSIA certified alpine level 3 and telemark level 1 instructor. In the warmer months, John has worked as an Outward Bound instructor in Oregon, leading teenagers on expeditions whitewater rafting and mountaineering, and as a painter in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his spare time, John is an avid rock climber and ski mountaineer. He also enjoys travelling around in his caravan, climbing and skiing.
Snow Safety Officer - Anna Loomes
Anna, one of our two kiwis on the team, grew up in South Canterbury. She was introduced the outdoors at an early age and hasn't stopped since. Anna has five years experience patrolling at Ruapehu and The Remarkables and has has also worked as a glacier guide at Mt Cook and Fox Glacier. In her spare time Anna enjoys skiing, climbing, rock climbing, mountain biking, travel and tramping.
Ski Patrol - John Thomas
John comes to us with a wealth of experience in the ski industry. He has worked ski patrolling, backcountry guiding, and also as a ski and snowboard instructor. In his spare time John enjoys skiing, snowboarding, climbing and hiking.
Groomer and General Machinery - Alastair Howden
Alastair adds a kiwi touch to the team. He has 15 seasons groomer experience at Mt Hutt, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Treble Cone and Japan. He has been skiing for 40 years and was a featured skier in Warren Millar's "Vertical Reality" movie. In the summers Alastair works in the film industry. He has been Unit Base Coordinator for Lord Of The Rings, The World's Fastest Indian, The Hobbit, Misson Impossible and many more in his 20 years in this industry. Alastair enjoys motor cross in his spare time.
Chef - Tom Christie
Tom is qualified chef with 10 years experience but is no stranger to working in snowy environments. He has worked in Courchevel, France, Trysil, Norway and of course Broken River in 2015. We're all looking forward to more of Tom's delicious culinary delights (no pressure Tom!). Tom has worked at some of Adelaide’s top restaurants, and also the UK (including one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants in London), France and Norway. Tom is a keen and talented snowboarder. He is also a keen soccer fan and enjoys playing golf, hiking, camping & most adrenaline sports.
