This one-day clinic as part of our multi-day avalanche courses, but can be booked as a stand-alone course. You'll work on skills to gain confidence and technique to improve your off-piste riding so you can move with ease and efficiency in those often challenging backcountry conditions.

Our in-depth backcountry course. The courses starts with a day to touch up on technique so you can ski with greater confidence and technique in the backcountry. This follows with four days on the slopes learning indepth information and practical training on avalanches, including understanding characteristics of avalanches and how to identify them, safe travel and rescue techniques and understanding the snowpack.

Broken River provides a snow secure and diverse training ground for an adventure of a lifetime. Get the most of this adventure with the 6-day camp. Make the most of this opportunity to touch up your off-piste techniques in a two hour intensive clinic.
Club members battled it out on the course to see who will come home with the cups. We hold slalom, giant slalom races and a dual slalom if there is time.
Pit your skills against our other competitors. It's always a blast, with plenty of thrills for participants and spectators. We have some great prizes too.

It's going to be a hoot! Participants run down the snowy slopes after a large 3 kg round of Barrys Bay cheese. Thrills and spills galore. Fun for participants and spectators alike. Spot prizes for the best dressed, so go wild!! Barrys Bay are generously supporting the event with multiple wheels of cheese, and ample extra off cuts to make for some great and delicious fun. The grand prize is an over 3kg wheel of cheese for the winner to enjoy by themselves or share with their mates. This year registration proceeds go to Protect Our Winters New Zealand, help keeping our winters cool.

Event Details
Opening Weekend
Dust off the board(s) and join us for our first turns of the season! It's been more than six months since we felt the snow beneath our feet so we can't wait to back out on the slopes!
BBQ Cook Off - September 18th
Our local BBQ chefs and home brew experts battle it out to see who can create the finest culinary BBQ delight or best brew this year. If you have a flair for food or home brew, or would just like to give it a go then join us at Palmer Lodge around 2pm.
Two Cooking Sections
- Country Fair Bake Off - whip up your best scones, pikelets, jam sponge ahead of time for this part of the event. (No bought products please.)
- BBQ Cook Off - create your BBQ culinary delight and wow our judges.
You have 15 minutes to create something sumptuous on the BBQ. Your dish needs to be cooked on the BBQ (rather than heat up something you've conjured up at home), but you can bring prepared sauces or wraps (etc.) to go with your main BBQ dish. Your final culinary delight should be large enough to share a bite or two with our two judges. Every year our contestants come up with a new range of delights. We look forward to seeing what will be created this year.
Home Brew Section
BBQs and brews go hand in hand. Bring a bottle of your best home brew for our judges to taste. This might be your finest beer or elderberry wine.
The July and September/October school holiday family weeks are very popular with members and our guests. These weeks provide a fun, memorable way to spend quality time with your family. It is a very social time for young and not-so young with strong friendships formed on the slopes and in the lodges.
Lessons are an integral part of the week and a fun way to learn new skills and get to know fellow skiweekers. By the end of the week everyone's riding has improved greatly, thanks to lessons and time on the slopes. Ask any BR member about our family skiweeks and they will recount many a fond memory of snowy days, card games, snow games, delicious food and fun on the slopes.
The Catered Wicked Weeker is our best family deal. Parents can relax after skiing while our chef prepares tasty meals and the whole family benefits from the three lessons included in the package.
Kids Weekend
Our special weekend for the kids. Everyone dresses up and has a great time at the fun events. The races are hotly contested and fun for the spectators too. Saturday we have a pot luck down in Broken River Lodge.

Dicky's Tasting Evening
Join Master Brewer Dicky Fife for his next "Round The World Tour". This time we're focusing on Mexico. We will be tasting several different classic Mexican drinks. It's a fun, social evening.
Cost: $40 to be paid at the ticket office by 6pm on the night. This price includes 7 cocktails and some great snacks as a compliment. Spaces are limited so please email us to book.
Start: 8pm Saturday September 17th at Lyndon Lodge.
