March Course Details

Would you like to learn how to paint a stunning view of the Lindis Pass working with acrylic paints - but not sure where or how to start? 

This fun workshop might be just what you're looking for. Join award-winning painter Kat for a weekend where she takes you through step-by-step tutorials to learn the full process of painting a mountain landscape using acrylic paints. She demonstrates what colours to mix and brushes to use and then how to apply the paint. The tutorials cover mixing and blending colours, choosing the right brush, applying the paint, how to paint snowy mountains and tussocks - and much much more! It'll be a fun and relaxed weekend based in the beautiful mountains of Canterbury. This retreat is suitable for all abilities.

Your Instructor

Katrina McGettigan is an established, award-winning, full-time artist who grew up in Methven and is based in Christchurch. She loves to capture the New Zealand landscapes and native bird scenes on canvas. Over the course of her career Katrina has developed a more refined style by experimenting with a range of moods, colours and light to depict her subjects. Katrina is inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of Canterbury and the wider South Island. 

Kat has held many solo and joint exhibitions throughout New Zealand.  She has been teaching art to adults and children at her Christchurch Kat's Art studio for more than 10 years.

On Mountain Accommodation

Enjoy a relaxing, fun weekend in the mountains in cosy Lyndon Lodge. This mountain lodge is nestled in native subalpine beech forest just below tree line. The views of the surrounding mountains and Castle Hill Basin are spectacular.

Lyndon Lodge has shared bunk-style accommodation and bathroom facilities, and a cosy communal living and dining area. Your meals will provided over the weekend from Friday dinner through to and including Sunday lunch. We can cater for any special dietary requirements you may have. Coffee & tea will be provided throughout the weekend.
