COURSE DETAILS

Discover new fundamental techniques and improve your photographic skills to create amazing photos in an inspiring, alpine setting. Using classroom and outdoor sessions in the local alpine environment, Emanuele will touch on the basics and fundamentals of photography and then focus on landscape photography and how to create stunning photos with great composition. You will learn to understand and master your gear and how to harness the power of light. There will also be an introduction to professional editing and post-production. Conditions permitting, there will be a night photography/astrophotography session.

There will be plenty of time for experimentation and developing your photographic skills. This retreat is aimed people with a basic knowledge of photography and your camera, and a medium level of fitness. You will be familiar with photographic terms such as exposure, ISO, shutter speed and can bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual or semi-manual settings to the workshop. The course runs from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Emanuele Del Bufalo is an award winning landscape, wildlife and travel photographer and the founder of EDB Photography LAB, an eclectic photography studio that is increasingly growing around the country.

After more than ten years of intense travelling and many photographic projects, which have led him to collaborate with important newspapers and organise photographic exhibitions, he now calls Christchurch and New Zealand home.

Emanuele's connection with nature and the environment forms the very essence of his artistic vision and creative process. His passion for the natural world translates into his photography, imbuing his work with a sense of authenticity and depth that resonates with viewers worldwide.

His photography captures the beauty of landscapes, wildlife, and various elements of nature in a way that evokes emotions and encourages a deeper appreciation for the environment. Through his lens, he manages to convey the intricate details of nature.

His exceptional skill in composition and lighting enables him to create captivating pieces that bring the beauty of nature into people's homes and workplaces.

ON MOUNTAIN ACCOMMODATION

Enjoy a relaxing, fun weekend in the mountains in cosy Lyndon Lodge. This mountain lodge is nestled in native subalpine beech forest just below tree line. The views of the surrounding mountains and Castle Hill Basin are spectacular.

Lyndon Lodge has shared bunk-style accommodation and bathroom facilities, and a cosy communal living and dining area. Your meals will provided over the weekend from Friday dinner through to and including Sunday lunch. We can cater for any special dietary requirements you may have. Coffee & tea will be provided throughout the weekend.
