Underlying principles of new membership structure and 2024 pricing

● Ensure everyone is contributing to the financial future of the Club whilst rewarding those who put in the hard mahi (by means of Work Party Credits earned from work on the field in summer/autumn or off-mountain activities, up to 30 April of current year).

● Encourage all members to complete work parties to utilise their skills and knowledge for the benefit of the Club.

● For people joining Broken River Ski Club for the first time the annual membership subscription fee will be waived for new members who complete two Work Party days by 30 April (an administration fee of $50 still applies to adult members). The new member will be entitled to the equivalent discount (for lift, season pass and accommodation) of two Work Party Credits (= 2 work days) and will not have to pay the Work Party Levy ($200 per adult , student or youth). Any future days completed during that year will result in a higher discount. 

WHAT DOES IT COST TO BE A MEMBER?

Family - One or more Adult/s with one or more Children/Youth. 1st Adult pays half of the Adult rate $87.50, 2nd Adult pays normal $175; 1st and 2nd Children pay normal child fee $50, 3rd & subsequent Children no fee applies. Admin and Work Party Levy applies as above.

The Work Party Levy is not applied to members under 11 and over 70, life members, and members with 20+ years of adult membership. Members who no longer ski or do not intend to ski in the current season can have the Work Party Levy waived. If they do ski during that season then non-member rates will apply.

Other Categories for your interest

Associate - members may elect to transfer from Adult to Associate (e.g. if they are travelling overseas). You stay on the mailing list but no discounts apply for lift/accommodation. $35 fee applies.
You can revert to Adult membership at any time by notifying us and paying the full subscription fee including Work Party Levy.

Veteran - 25 years of adult membership entitles you to a reduced annual subscription of $75 and Work Party Levy is waived.

Locker for boots or skis (waitlist for when one may come available, supply your own padlock, please check before making a payment) $40 each.

LIFT FEES 2024

** Tertiary student ID required before purchase can be completed. 

SEASON PASS 2024   

* WPC = Work Party Credits are approved work days completed by 30 April. Youth age as at 1 January.
Note: Night Skiing is not included in Season Passes.

WORK PARTY DAYS

Discounts are available on season lift passes, daily lift rates, accommodation and ski packages for members who choose to complete approved Work Days during the summer/autumn seasons. Each Day earns a credit equivalent to the member’s day lift pass, which can be traded towards accommodation or package deals.

Everyone can participate – whether you’re a skilled tradesperson, a DIY handyperson, or neither. There are plenty of jobs for all skill levels on the ski area in summer and at the workshop in Rangiora, as well as a range of year round jobs that can be done in the city or from home.

There’s huge satisfaction to be gained from helping out on projects that assist the ski club to operate smoothly. You also have a chance to meet other members and make new friends. Work party details are published over summer in the club newsletters and e-bulletins. Work Days can be done while you’re still considering membership or your application is pending. If you complete too many Work Days for your own use these can be used by others - special conditions apply.

Work party dates are published via the Club newsletters, planned for:
2024  Feb 24-25, Mar 9-10, Easter week 29 March to 5 April. 

Plus May 18-19 and Jun 1-3 Kings Birthday and other June/July final pre-season preparation - HOWEVER credits will apply to 2025 season.

Members can look for info in the Club e-bulletins or Facebook page.  Prospective members can check in with the coordinator at: wppersonnel@brokenriver.co.nz. Book in at least 5-7 days prior to the weekend so jobs, gear and people can be assigned.

Summer is also a great time to be up at BR – lovely sunny weather and long, warm days. Members doing Work Days on the field bring all their own food with shared dinner and breakfast meals.

Summer activities in the mountains

The lodges are also available to hire out for groups to enjoy our spectacular alpine experience – such as work, school or uni groups, weddings or special family occasions.
